Was the first time here. Guy's night out with my teenage son. We had Amanda W. as our waitress and she was GREAT! She even got my humor and laughed at my jokes. So service was 5/5. Food selections were off of a very limited menu. A place this big should have more offerings. Prices were a bit much, guess you are paying for the crazy view of the water. We booked via OpenTable and requested a window seat which the hostess obliged despite telling us to hold our breath as many request the same. Glad we did as it was very nice seeing all those lights on the mainland during dinner. I opted for the Seafood Dinner (all fried and could have easily fed two people).. for $22. The added dinner salad was another $4. So for ''dinner for me'' it rang in at $26... a bit much for what it was. My son opted for a caesar salad not much bigger than my dinner salad but it was $2 more, sitting here scratching my head. His entree was the appetizer E-Nawlins shrimp and grits...a very healthy appetizer for $10 however. All in all dinner rounded out about $50 for two folks, no drinks or dessert. SaleebScore: Service 9/10, Food: 7/10, Value 5/10, Atmosphere & View: 9.5/10. Would have made it 5-star but value dropped it down to the 4-slot. Diners with deep pockets need not worry, those on a budget, and with small appetites can safely split an entree for a better value. Nice Sunday Brunch I am told.

The best Sunday brunch on the grand strand!

We had a wonderful dinner here. My husband had the platter, and I had the scallops. The scallops were the best I've ever had. Our waitress, Melissa L. was very attentive and friendly. We will return to Gulfstream Cafe.

My family and I have been eating at the Gulfstream Cafe for 15 years and our last visit was our last. This used to be a great restaurant with exceptional low country seafood and other items on their menu. Today they have trimmed their menu down to only a few items and rush you to order and like magic your food arrives in 3 minutes so they can rush out the door. We were sitting in a round booth for 6 and our wait staff constantly stood behind the booth to fill our drinks and removes dishes. They could not even stand at the booth opening because of the foot traffic coming in and going out. Now the Gulfstream Cafe is like the many other Grandstrand restaurants that call in the masses and rush them out so the next wave can fill in.

5 stars for service, 1 for food. We have come here every year for at least 10 years and are normally very satisified, however, last year and this year our filet was very over done and dry. We sent it back and the waiter was amazing but by the time the steak came back I wasn't even hungry any more. This same thing happened last year...we will not return again.

Great service, great food, and what a view! We sat outside on the balcony just in time for the sunset. Food was very tasty and priced fair. We got the filet and the special mahi mahi. Our waitress was knowledgable and super friendly. Next time I am in Myrtle Beach I will go again. Perfect date night!

Service was great, she as very knowledgable.... Place was literally dead on a Sunday night in the peak of tourist season.... Now I know why. Ledges next to our booth were VERY dusty.... Windows had children's paw prints all over them... Gross. Menu was very small, has totally changed since we were there years ago. My husband got the chicken parm and ended up getting sick this morning at 2am... Very disappointing considering the view and atmosphere.

Last night, my husband Mike and I ate at Gulfstream Cafe in Murrell's Inlet. It is the best place to watch the sunset over the marsh. Because of their limited menu, we decided to split some appetizers. We ordered she crab soup and oyster shooters. I have never found a place that did not have good she crab soup and this was no exception. The oyster shooters ( oysters in shot glasses with cocktail sauce) were very tasty. Next were oysters Rockefeller. Oysters in the half shell baked with chopped spinach and Parmesan cheese on top. I have no photo of these because we gobbled them down. This was Mike's first time eating them and he declared them "delicious." Round three were Firecracker Prawns. Spicy shrimp with mashed potatoes in a sauce. The sauce did not matter because it was quite tasteless. The prawns themselves were not spicy and were heavily breaded and small. Mashed potatoes are mashed potatoes. You were given six prawns. Dessert was cheesecake. A large fluffy slice of cheesecake which was a delight to put in your mouth. While this restaurant use to be one of our favorites (before they brought in a limited menu a few years ago), it has become a ho-hum restaurant with a beautiful view of the marsh.

I've dined here numerous times and usually very much enjoy the grouper francais, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans while my wife would have the crab cakes or the Mahi Mahi special. This time I opted for a mussels in a garlic wine and butter sauce on pasta. It was superb. Love the service, view, ambience and food. My only complaint is the last time there the green beans which are normally fresh and crisp were likely from frozen and mushy. I'd like to add that the Sunday brunch is a good deal. Lots of breakfast items sure to satisfy and some great mussels on pasta as well as Caesar salad. Make your own bloody Mary's is a neat kicker too! The early bird menu features some great tasty deals like she crab soup, firecracker prawns and bread with bruschetta.

We chose this location to show a family member on first trip to MB the beautiful sunset over the marshes at Murels Inlet, we arrived at 6 pm and the joint was jumpin' , parking was a challenge, but manageable . A really nice ambience and we enjoyed a lovely view of the sunset, we tried a variety of entries, all were great! Try the she crab soup with a dash of sherry, it is awesome, the house salad is really big and a mix of many good flavors, really a good choice. For entrees we had mahi-mahi blackened (really good), 6oz filet (very nice) and Grouper ( really fantastic- I would rate this as best fish I have ever had), in addition try the garlic mashed potatoes (abundant and tasty), a real surprise was the creamed spinach (my sis-in-law and I almost were tempted to lick the bowls clean it was super), service was great so, this in my opinion is a must try place for a memorable experience both for dining and view, give it a try( make a reservation !!!!)

Overlooking beautiful Murrells Inlet make Gulfstream one of the better dining locations on the Strand. Visit on Sunday for brunch. The food is excellent and the price is only $12.95. Checkout the Bloody Mary bar!

Don't come for the service or advertised Monday Buck a Shuck! You will find neither here! When we came to the hostess upon arrival, the told us they don't have buck-shuck oysters and looked at me like I had three heads! I went back to the car but double checked their website and it clearly stated they have the happy hour deal. I went back to check with the hostess and she deeply apologized and said they do have the deal. My fiancé and I were sat and enjoyed our cocktails. When we went to order, we were surprised to hear the waitress say they don't have the deal! It was and extremely disappointing evening due to lack of communication and false advertising...don't waste your time. There's plenty of good seafood elsewhere in MB!

The mixed reviews on Yelp for Gulf Stream Cafe are surprising to me. We had a Great meal, Great price, Great service, and the Most Beautiful Sunset in MB! The Oysters Rockerfeller Appetizer and the Homemade Key Lime Pie Dessert were as good as it gets! We both had early evening menu ($12) that includes drink, bread, salad, and entree, all very good! Go at Sunset but get there early to get the best view! We will return!

Beautiful sunset views with an early dinner in January. The location boasts beautiful exposed wooden beams, walls, and floors that have matching decor. The whole place whispers "sailing ship" to your subconscious mind. They even have a salt water aquarium to round out the idea. The early dinner deals pair well with the early sunset view from the upstairs deck. The blackened fish and filet entrees were good, and the sea salt potato and fresh bread helped fight off the chill in the air. The servers are attentive and efficient, and there is plenty of room for diners and the bar. The weekend brunch also looks good, so I'll definitely be back. I hope the outdoor weather cooperates!

We have been going to Gulfstream Cafe for years and have enjoyed our meals a lot. Last night, for Mother's Day, our meal was a little different.....our seafood was leftover/warmed over, not the fresh prepared food we are used too. Also, we only received 2 scallops and 4 shrimp, mostly very stale french fries, hours old. I know food is expensive but we will not be going back anytime soon.....just not worth the money we paid. The restaurant and all the employees we dealt with were great. It is the food that was our problem. If you have to raise the price to deliver a good product, please do that!

Overall, this place is amazing. Romantic fancy candle lit atmosphere (everyone was dressed to the nines, I felt like a slob there. I didn't realize it was that fancy. Sit near the window to see the sunset on the inlet. My phone died and couldn't take more pictures! Everything from entrees/appetizers/drinks was amazing. The sourdough bread was warm and delicious. For appetizers, we had the Shrimp Cocktail and Firecracker Prawns (served w/ grits that melted in your mouth on top of a spicy mayo sauce). All of the entrees we had were AMAZING! We had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes (not much filler, high quality meat), Roasted Half Chicken (hot juicy chicken w/crispy skin), and a special entree broiled Mahi Mahi. There weren't many sides to choose from, but I would recommend the garlic mashed potatoes and salt-crusted baked potato. The green beans had a hint of garlic which was good. The french fries were okay, crispy not greasy. The restaurant is a bit pricy, but it's definitely worth it. The servers were very friendly, quick, and worked well as a team. Put on your Sunday best, bc you're in for a treat.

Entrees were good but disappointed in the shrimp cocktail when it arrived with mud veins still intact. Would expect more since this restaurant was not cheap. My party had good reviews for the filet, crab cakes and garlic mashed potatoes. I had the special clams in butter garlic sauce over linguini. It was ok but not spectacular. The view was beautiful and the mojitos were good.

Found this gem on Yelp and it will now be a regular stop on our trips to the grand strand. We had a front row seat to a view of Murrells Inlet and a great breeze to go with it. We arrived at 450 so it wasn't crowded yet and we were able to take advantage of the great early bird menu. For 12.95 I was able to order a great meal that consisted of mussels in a garlic white wine broth. It was excellently prepared and I've paid $25 for a meal of similar characteristics at other restaurants. The kicker was this came with a salad, a side, and a drink (non-alcoholic). Great value. My parents each ordered the catch of the day, one grilled and one blackened. Both enjoyed their meals. I was happy with the meals and the service. I would strongly suggest a visit to this place while in myrtle beach!

Very disappointed... We have eaten here every year for at least the last 5 years and tonight the service was horrible. The food was only warm after taking over an hour to come out. The menu has changed and there aren't very many options, like there was in the past. Will not be returning.

My family gets takeout and orders quite a huge spread from this place. Crab cakes are perfection and king crab legs are wonderful. Highly recommended.

Mediocre at best. Food was very over priced and didn't taste that great at all. Service wasn't good as we waited an hour after our appetizers for our entrees. Views were beautiful, but I don't think I'll be back.

    (2)
  • Daniel G.

Great views, but that's where it ends. Mediocre service. Had to hunt down our own refills. Food was not consistent. One persons green beans were cooked perfect, mine raw. For the price, would expect more.

We went for the Sunday buffet brunch (now $12.95) and got there around noon. We didn't make a reservation, and weren't overly shocked when we got there and they said it would be a 20-25 minute wait for 2 people. We were pretty shocked after waiting and then to be led upstairs (buffet was downstairs), that all of the tables were empty! Not sure why we had to wait so long. The eggs on the buffet were not very good, but there was a nice omelet station to make up for that. The fried cod was very good for a buffet line (as were the grits, sausage gravy, and french toast). Our waitress was very attentive and nice. The dining room and view are very nice. The food was okay, but nothing over the top. In regards to breakfast/brunch, I wouldn't tell folks NOT to come, but I wouldn't necessarily send anyone for the food only.

The food was spectacular, service was outstanding, the view is amazing. My only complaint is that I had made reservations online a couple weeks prior requesting "a romantic table for 2 with a view to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary". Our reservations were honored except that we had a table right in the busy thoroughfare of the servers. It is difficult not to have a great view of the sunset over the marsh. I booked for 7:30 p.m. and it was perfect timing for the magnifiscent sunset. Service was awesome (Michael from NJ) - friendly and very personable. Highly, HIGHLY recommend this lovely find. This is NOT a tourist trap like so many advertised places in the area.

My first impression of GulfStream when we walked in was pretty poor. The hostess was likely the least hospitable and friendly restaurant employee I've ever encountered. She sat us at a really crummy table away from the windows, by the restaurant's entrance. When I asked if there was another table for us, she told me yes- and to go get our menus and she would move us. It was handled very poorly. Thank goodness our waitress was great, friendly, knowledgeable and patient. We had 2 appetizers: Fried Calamari and the shrimp cocktail. Both were excellent the only note is that the cocktail sauce for the shrimp had a kick! Entrées: My mother ordered the Shrimp and grits cake appetizer for her meal and it was amazing. The cake is huge. They use grits and cream cheese, and fry it! My husband and I both had steak, the filet and NY strip. They serve choice beef, and it is prepared Pittsburgh style. They were excellent! We dined at Ruth's Chris several weeks ago, and these steaks were better. Both done perfectly medium rare. My Dad had the seafood platter, broiled rather than fried. He was the only one who did not LOVE his meal. But he said it was good. We had green beans, creamed spinach, fries, baked potato, and the special basmati rice as our sides. They were perfect compliments to our meals. Dessert: We had the chocolate mousse cake, apple walnut pie and bourbon pecan pie and lots of rich vanilla ice cream. Everything was good. The manager stopped by our table before our food arrived and I felt compelled to tell him about the hostess. He was appalled. They comped an appetizer and dessert. I was not expecting anything, so when our waitress mentioned this at the end of the meal I was surprised. It was not my intention when I spoke with him. The GulfStream certainly earned its 4 stars, and was pretty close to 5 in my opinion! Don't wait as long as we did to try this place. Additional notes: GulfStream belongs to the same restaurant group as California Dreamin' GulfStream is also the best place in Garden City/Murrells Inlet to view the sunset.

This is still our favorite place at the beach. Great seafood and a great view of the waterway from the back deck. If you're looking for an off the beaten path place with a great outdoor seating area and top seafood I would recommend this place. Only complaint is a skinny wine list but it's acceptable. The only draw back to the deck is it faces west and the sun can make it hot. I'd suggest getting there right before sunset. The she crab soup is about as good as you can get.

We just arrived in SC on vacation, and decided to go out for dinner about a mile from the rental house. This place was not good. There were 6 of us and a baby. We understand that this was a semi-large party but the service was so slow. And the food was marginal at best especially for the price. $300 for 6 adults!!! They were out of the Grouper that had been recommended. My husband's Mahi Mahi was raw, although they did fix, but the taste wasn't any better. The green beans were the best part of the meal. What a disappointment. We will NOT be going back!

I love good, freshly prepared seafood and this place nailed it. A good friend of mine suggested we head here before he returned to NJ, for a quiet dinner along the water. He made reservations and that was the first of many good decisions as the place was packed. We waited a few minutes in the bar on the top deck and totally enjoyed the view of the Marsh at Murrells Inlet. We were seated by our hostess and Devon, our waiter, arrived with freshly baked bread and soft butter. He was top notch and very attentive. His service was great. The menu is brief but has all the favorites for sea and land lovers. The specials sounded incredible and my friend ordered the Mahi Mahi, garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed green beans. I opted for the fried seafood platter with creamed spinach and hush puppies. We both started with their famous "she crab soup". The she crab soup had a slight tint of sherry, loads of crab and was made with heavy cream. (any foodie knows that heavy cream is the secret to any creamed soup). It was delicious and served piping hot, at the table, from a stainless steel cup and poured into a warmed bowl. A very nice touch. Dinner arrived within fifteen minutes and was fresh and hot. My seafood platter consisted of lightly breaded shrimp (six of them) four breaded scallops, four breaded local oysters and three huge pieces of freshly caught flounder. The breading was very light and cooked to perfection. No need for the tartar sauce or cocktail sauce, just a bit of lemon and I was off to a culinary treat. Two large hush puppies accompanied the meal but I had no room for them both and ate just one. The meal was right up there with meals that I have had in any four star seafood restaurant on the east or west coast. My friend had the Mahi Mahi and it was grilled to perfection, tender and a nice flake to it. He told me that his entire meal was excellent and incredibly fresh. Deserts were offered and declined due to "no room" left and a very satisfied feeling. The atmosphere was beautiful with views of the Marsh Walk, a setting sun and the local wildlife putting on their evening show. I will return to this well hidden secret, and the next time try the mussells and clams over linguini. Should be a real treat. Great for family and friends and excellent for a date night. It is one of the finer experiences that I have had here on the Grand strand. Enjoy the specialty of the Inlet, seafood, if you head here for dinner, and make reservations. Mac

Another perennial stop when we head to the beach. The grouper francais is flat out fantastic. Usually I refrain from recommending a specific dish in these since it annoys me when I take other's words for something and it turns out to taste like the same old drivel you can get anywhere. But still, for Gulfstream I'm taking the chance. Grouper francais. And hushpuppies.

This used to be one of our favorite places to visit when visiting Myrtle Beach, but this year, Gulfstream Cafe was a disappointment. They greatly reduced their menu down to a single page, and the food quality wasn't what we remembered. The service was OK, but not worth the automatic 20% gratuity that was added to our large party. The rooftop patio's view was still great, but they no longer have live music to listen to while you're waiting for your table. The dinner this night was a disappointment.

This was my first visit here and overall I was happy. The building is awesome and the setting is beautiful. The atmosphere is calm and classy. Our server was very polite and prompt with everything she did. Our orders were taken and we were checked on promptly. My food was amazing. The She Crab Soup was a nice way to start off the meal. They added a splash of sherry which was the perfect touch. I had the special which was King Crab Risotto. It was amazing!! It was creamy, rich, and filling. It was so filling in fact that I was unable to finish it. When the waitress asked if I needed a box I said, "unfortunately, yes, because I am stuffed. It is so good I want to keep eating it." I'm not sure if she didn't hear me or if her mind was on the table of frat guys there for a bachelor party. Either way she tossed my risotto instead of boxing it up. I was so disappointed. She was very apologetic and the manager would have taken it off my bill but we had paid by then. He offered to make me a fresh batch and even though that was a very nice gesture I had eaten more than half of it already and didn't feel like that was fair to the restaurant. He then offered me a free dessert to go which I took thankfully. It was a chocolate moose cake slice and it was amazing. All in all it was a nice meal and experience. We will be back.

First time trying the restaurant and even though it's only mid March and was barely 5:00 pm there was a crowd. It was only two of us so we were seated quickly. We ordered from the Early Evening menu which is smaller portions and less $. Salads come with dinners and soft drinks are included too. Warm bread arrived with our iced teas and we both had the southern fried seafood (choose 2). I had shrimp & oysters, my husband had flounder and scallops. He had garlic smashed potatoes and I chose green beans. Everything was delicious and seafood breading was light as our server (Randy) had said. Service was excellent and we had no reason to deal with management. Would have been 5 stars but couldn't recommend the chocolate pecan pie. As stated, this is part of the California Dreamin' chain of restaurants.

We went for Mother's Day brunch. It was very good. The sausage gravy and biscuits are almost as good as mom makes! The hush puppies are the best I've ever had, hands down. We also had mimosas and bloody Mary's too. The Bloody Mary, I prefer spicy, and it was perfect. They even put old bay seasoning on the rim which turned out to be a nice addition. All in all, I would recommend the brunch to anyone. I can't comment on dinner, but Sunday brunch is the bomb. Make reservations or you may have a long wait.

We sat outside. It was a very pleasant evening (although a storm was rolling in just as we were leaving.) At first sight, the menu seemed very small and limited, but all three of us decided on our entrees. The food was VERY good. I had the seafood platter, my son had the flounder, and my husband had the steak. The restaurant is off the beaten path unless you are staying on that end of Garden City, but is well worth the drive. LOVE the fact that they take reservations, although we didn't need one as there were empty tables. Will definitely go again!"

I've been coming to the Gulfstream Cafe basically all of my life. I've always really enjoyed it. My family has made some great memories there celebrating special occasions. This last time we went for dinner the night before Thanksgiving. It was slow only a few tables in the restaurant. The hostess was less than friendly. You could tell she just wanted to get out of there. At least she sat us at a good table. Then we were greeted by our server who was okay. He called one of the grown men at the table "buddy" which was kind of degrading. You can tell they don't train their servers for a fine dining white table cloth setting. Wine selection was pretty poor not very many good wines. House cocktail menu needs work nothing but cheapo drinks to be chosen from. But on the bright side the drinks are super inexpensive. On to the food. Proteins were done so well we all took a nibble off of each other's plates. My sister in law got the filet. Nice crispy crust. You could tell is was seared at an appropriate high temp. My dad ordered the oyster Rockefeller and shrimp and grits app. Oysters were good... Heavy on the cheese though. To be honest with you I don't know if I even ate an oyster. Shrimp and grits were okay. I ate the lobster tail which I haven't ordered in a long time and man, I am so glad I did! Perfectly done! Other items ordered were scallops and Mahi Mahi special both done perfectly. Portions of proteins were on point as well. Moving on to the side items... Unfortunately the green beans which should have been al dente at a fine dining place were cooked until falling apart with no buttery flavor at all. Then mashed potatoes had huge chunks of almost raw potatoes. I am guessing from the center of the potato that wasn't cooked through. Over salted, over buttered. Not a balanced flavor at all. Being in the culinary field myself I think it's a shame this place didn't have the service, side items, drinks and appetizers to complement the wonderful seafood and beef we had. 3 stars.

Real good. But....the crab stuffing on the lobster was a little fishy and the green beans a bit cold. But other than that great!!

Although the food was pretty good - spicy prawn appetizer was delicious! We've never had worse service in our life! It began with the waiter taking drink orders from a table that had been seated well after us. Then finally coming to our table and telling us he was exhausted and had been there since 7am for brunch (now 8pm). My husband ordered a NY strip and was given a fillet mignon. Our waiter ignored us as my husband tried to get his attention. After finally getting his attention, my husband assumed he would put in an order for a nY strip 10 minutes later, our waiter comes back and looks at my husband and says, with attitude, what do you want me to do? My husband says, put on a NY strip. The new steak came about 15 minutes later. A manager never came by to apologize and although the waiter apologized and said it was his fault, I have never seen such attitude from a waiter. To add insult to injury, the bill came and we were still charged for the filet mignon, not the NY strip. Poor management at the restaurant, food pretty good.

This place was just ok. The servers were a little young and seemed a bit green. I wonder if they had been hired and were in the process of training them for next year's summer season. The hostess assumed, since I was dining alone, that I wanted to sit at the bar. She seemed a bit upset that I did not, that I was taking up one of the precious tables at the half empty restaurant. I ordered the pick 2 fried seafood and picked the shrimp and scallops because I didn't feel like grouper. The breading was thick and falling off. The shrimp were awfully small and didn't much flavor to go with their overcooked texture. The scallops, on the other hand, were quite tasty! They were plump and sweet and not overcooked, which amazed me. I think perhaps the shrimp had been sitting around under a heat lamp for a while because they were not nearly as hot as the scallops. There's much better fried seafood around. The saving grace of the place (aside from the amazing view) is the she crab soup. It is FANTASTIC. I love she crab soup and I've loved it since I was 3 years old. This one is creamy and thick with just the right amount of crab in it. I got crab in every bite but not too much, and they added a splash of sherry which is always nice. I'd come back for the soup, not so much for anything else.

Searching for a restaurant in this area can be tricky. So, after reading reviews, very mixed,we used the mobile reservation choice. We arrived 20 minutes early, a party of 7, with a very well behaved toddler. We were seated within 5 minutes. My sister and I wondered about the limited menu. More on that, later. Shawn was our server. He was prompt in taking our drink orders, and extremely child savvy. He even spelled ice cream when asking my sis if it was okay to mention it as a surprise. Shawn announced the specials, and we ordered apps. All were excellent. We had Oysters Rockefeller, she-crab soup, and shrimp cocktail. My husband was a shrimper in NC, and even he was impressed. Our entrees arrived hot, all were incredible! We shared around the table, as every entree was delicious. My sister and I determined that the limited menu allows them to focus on what they do better than anyone else! We had crab cakes, well seasoned, with plenty of lump crabmeat. The cropping had a perfect sauce, my blackened tuna was cooked perfectly to order, and the sides were excellent. I think anyone who doesn't review this restaurant well doesn't have a family of culinary enthusiasts! By all means, try Gulfstream Cafe! You won't be disappointed!

I dine at The Gulfstream monthly. The atmosphere, golden sunsets and most of all food, are worth writing home about. The early bird 4-5:30 specials are priced $11.95 No better deal on the Strand!!! You will enjoy dining here.

We've been to Gulfsteam about 8 times over the last 12 years and have always had good service and great food. This particular evening we were told on the phone that there was no wait so we drive down to the location. Upon arrival, the hostess seemed quite confused about where to seat the group ahead of us and our group of four. Despite at least a dozen open tables that would seat four, we were seated right up against a table of 5 and amongst most of the current diners in the restaurant. I asked a manager why the empty tables weren't being used, he said they were preparing for the next morning's buffet. (Starts at 11.am .) Once we said we were leaving, suddenly the manager asked if he could find us a new table. About 5 minutes to late. Dreadful! !

As soon as I walked up to this place I knew right off the bat that this is high dollar fine dining. the views, the decks, atmosphere, decor all stunningly beautiful. The bathroom complete with Listerine dispenser which I've never seen before in a restaurant. At the time I just wasn't that hungry and I just wanted something simple. Simple costs $19.00 in there, granted the food was great aside from it being a little cold side. clearly this restaurant from a dining stand point doesn't appeal to the average working guy . And I still don't know what to make of your mouthwash dispenser, however Personal hygiene is at the utmost importance. 4/5 Maybe when I'm a millionaire I'll Come back and eat again.

Meh. 3 stars is generous. My husband booked a reservation outside, which was not honored. We got a spot by the window (with some construction material piled up behind our table, I kid you not). Very hot inside with lack of AC pumping in mid August. Food was so-so (I ordered grouper francese on the server's recommendation), and it was nice but not exceptional. Server seemed more focused on other tables and "forgot" to box up my leftovers. Time and money are better spent elsewhere.

Gave the Gulf Stream a second chance. Glad I did, Food , like last time was excellent, and it arrived in a timely fashion. Manager was pleasant, and service excellent. Glad we gave it second chance!

As always, everything was great. Had the tuna special, rare, garlic masher potatoes, all perfect! Fresh baked bread was very good, and salads great. Menu slection isnt huge, but is good, and everyone at the table liked their orders. Good service too.

Mediocre at best. Food was very over priced and didn't taste that great at all. Service wasn't good as we waited an hour after our appetizers for our entrees. Views were beautiful, but I don't think I'll be back.

Great views, but that's where it ends. Mediocre service. Had to hunt down our own refills. Food was not consistent. One persons green beans were cooked perfect, mine raw. For the price, would expect more.

I've eaten here 5 times in the past 3 months. Every time I get the she crab soup and salad. They make their own ranch dressing and it's delicious. If you go between 4 and 5:30 pm you can get dishes for significantly less money, as they have an early bird menu. You have to ask your server for it, because it's not advertised. You can get dishes for 14$ instead of 24$. For 8 people it was 110$. It is poppin but everytime I've been I've never had to wait.

Mac

Ok but nothing to write home about. Food was decent but the waitperson seemed not to look at us. Distracted and inattentive. Noise was very hard to talk over. Would not go back here.

Wait staff = 2, food = 4. Good is delicious and a great value from their "sunset" menu. Not sure we would consider the food as delicious if we paid the regular prices.

2 Stars for the non-existent customer service and very reduced menu. I visited this restaurant and couple years ago and it was a very good experience. It seems that blew out the window a long time ago. The host was very rude when I called to make reservations. When we arrived, there were about 3 hosts standing at the entrance and all of them looked like they had eaten a lemon before we arrived. No smile, no greeting, nothing. There are definitely better restaurants in the area and I would personally suggest any of the others. Don't spend your money at a place that doesn't even remotely act like they want your business.

Has been a favorite spot and still does some things well. The salads are good and fresh and the dressing are wonderful..had blue cheese that is so creamy and tasty, not your usual blue. Split the Fried Seafood loaf, that is a New Orleans style Po' Boy with shrimp and oysters with lettuce and tomato with creole remoulade..guess what, they weren't kidding, you get a whole loaf of bread! It is huge! Also had the Low Country Crab Cakes that come with a remoulade sauce and garlic mashed...Oh So Good! The bad, someone in the group had salmon that was so overcooked..uneatable. Waitress notice late in the meal and asked if we wanted a new meal, but no not at this time. She did take it off the bill and tried to get the manager to come over but he was busy and we were in a hurry to go. Good job by her! This place tends to be busy and we had reservations. The air conditioning was not up to snuff, a little on the hot side!

I've been going to Gulfstream for years. Although its a bit off the path, it's well worth it. The food and service is consistently excellent. The view is breathtaking and the atmosphere welcoming. I recommend trying to make it in time for sunset, but during some months this coincides with their Early Bird--expect a crowd. During season they have All You Can Shuck Oyster nights and always a first class Sunday Brunch. The build your own Bloody Mary is creative. My favorite menu items are the Nawlins Shrimp with grit cake, Grouper Francais and crab cakes with filet. This is a must try if you're in the area!

Wow. Been coming here for more years than I can remember. Seriously reduced menu. No raw oysters. service was so slow on a Wednesday night we left before ordering. Sad to say after so many memories that we won't be back unless serious changes are made.

Great atmosphere. Go over at sunset, have drinks on the rooftop patio and listen to a guy strum a guitar while you watch the sunset. Good seafood (tho often heavy on garlic). Service is inconsistent but you won't mind as you relax with some cocktails at a great place sitting between the inlet and the coast.

We went to this restaurant for our thirtieth wedding anniversary. My husband mentioned this as we arrived. The service was fair, the food was tasty and the portions were generous. At the end of the meal I was presented with a "happy anniversary" card. A nice thought but I was disappointed that they didn't present us with a dessert on the house, which has been done for us at every other restaurant. That missing touch of sophistication and generosity would have gone a long way.

My favorite dining view on the Strand! The docks wander out into the swampy inlet, making a beautiful sunset as you dine. I like the early dining menu, especially the fried platters. The scallops are very good and there is always a fresh catch special. Their hush puppies are large and fluffy! My favorite hush puppies are here at Gulfstream.

I had been here several times before and had fond memories of good food and a nice sunset so I was expecting same but unfortunately I was disappointed on this visit. Firstly they were not that crowded since it was earlier on a Monday evening and I had called ahead so we were expecting to be seated where we could all see the awesome bay view as in past visits. Instead we were inexplicably seated at at table by the entrance where only half of our seats could see a smaller version of the view from across the dining room. Once seated there was an oily piece of cooked spinach stuck to the top of one of the chairs which someone should have noticed when they bused the table. There was also something creamy smeared across one of the menus. Not what I expected from a restaurant with entrees in the $20+ range. The menu only had 9 or so entrees (smaller than I remember) and none of them were a lighter fish so I went with the old standby - crab cakes. They were ALL jumbo lump but they were slightly overdone on the outside and there did not appear to by anything at all in them but the meat. I personally prefer a little red pepper or onion or ANYTHING mixed into them for variety so I found them a bit bland. Also, my daughter's mashed potatoes were not cooked completely through. I must say that the service was pretty good, but it would not have mattered if it were not because a 20% gratuity was automatically added to a check for a PARTY OF FIVE (never saw that before!) I will probably not be driving down from NMB again to get here.

Overpriced. Got the tuna, pan seared and rare with light blackened seasoning. Not bad, however was disappointed that they did not have wasabi. The she-crab soup rocked! Friends got grouper and duck. The duck was a large portion and was very good. Grouper well it was satisfying. Good views, good company, service could be better. Ok.

I found myself in Garden City this weekend visiting family, and automatically wanted to go to the Gulf Stream. I have been visiting this area for many years, and have always enjoyed this place. It is right on the water with great views and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the quality of the food does not match the price. I ordered the shrimp cocktail (6 shrimp for $9.75). I remember them always being HUGE and wonderful. What I received was some seriously sad looking shrimp that were rubbery (like they where in the fridge for a few days). I sent them back without apology. I ordered the crab cake with fillet - they were good, but the veggies were cold. I am so sad to give this place only 2 stars - this use to be my go to place for seafood.

High quality food and the best views anywhere on the Grand Strand. Not a T shirt and jeans place but for the quality of the food, price is commiserate. We have never visited GCB and NOT eaten here, it is a must stop on every trip.

First time here last night while vacationing in nearby Surfside Beach. Eight of us were getting hungry around 6:00 on a Friday night in the middle of July and knew we'd have a hard time finding a place to get seafood without waiting hours. We headed towards Garden City, hoping to put our names in "somewhere," and then mess around at the pier while we waited. The only reason we kept driving so far past the pier was that I'd remembered seeing this place while out biking earlier in the week. We pulled up around 7:30, the place was packed. The hostess told my husband it would be an hour to seat our party of 8, but that we could have full service out on the rooftop, first come first served seating. We walked up another flight of stairs to...the most beautiful view I've seen in SC, gorgeous sunset overlooking the marina and Murrell's Inlet across the way. We quickly found 3 small empty tables near each other, dragged them together and texted the rest of our party to let them know we were "IN." We ordered beers, wine, mojitos - average drink price about $7. Expensive. The menu is one page, seafood, steaks, maybe a duck? Most entrees were somewhere in the $25 range. Several of us ordered the fried seafood platter, I got the "2 item" platter for $18 - shrimp and flounder, with a side of fries. This $18 seafood platter had 2 small, skinny pieces of flounder, and 5, yes, 5 fried shrimp. Not like those endless baskets you'd get at the big seafood joints down in Murrells Inlet. They were good, but I had to eat all my fries to get full. We also had a hard time getting some of the things we needed during our meal. For example, my brother ordered a cup of She-Crab soup. The soup was delivered without a spoon, and he waited 10 + minutes (and had to ask more than once) to get the spoon after the arrival of the hot soup. Although all of us got french fries with our dinner, we didn't get any ketchup and had to ask multiple times and multiple people to get some. When it finally did come, we were all finished, I mean "ready for the check" finished. (I'm of the opinion it should be standard with fries.) Same story with waters and drink refills. Multiple asks, multiple people. When the bill came, I realized that an 18% gratuity was already tacked on. I really want to believe that waitstaff still "try" to give good service, even if they are already getting 18%. There are very few times I wouldn't give a full 20%, but this was one of those times that the 18% was sticking in my throat. All in all, we got in with no wait, the view/sunset was amazing, we ate, we drank, we were merry. I wish we'd had better service to go with the money we spent there.

Very happy to say that one of our favorite local places earned high praises tonight. Early bird is best quality around no doubt. They did go up one dollar but you can't complain or gripe about that when it's the first they've gone up in years! And still well worth it! Plus the food and service is very good, gorgeous view, and white linen tablecloths to boot! Super selection to pick from on the early bird menu too and includes main entree, starch and salad and nonalcoholic drink! Great place to go - get there early though!

Good food, below average service. This used to be our "go to" place for a nice seafood meal with impeccable service. While the food was still what I'd consider above average for the area, the service was really off. Given a 45-minute wait, we decided to head to the outside bar deck area (beautiful views of the inlet). We waited 15 min before the bar area waitress showed up. It took another 20 min before our oyster shooters showed up and only after we asked her to check on it. The oyster shooters were still good--what's not to like about someone doing all the work?!?!--but they were kinda warm and not served in a bed of ice. Probably due to the long time sitting there waiting to be brought out. Our table came up and we had to close out the bar tab at the table. She brought the credit card slip to our table but with no pen--the reception desk had no pen either. We waited over 10 min for a waiter. Gave the signed bill to our waiter (never introduced himself, so I don't know his name) who didn't even know who she was. We were seated by the door leading to the outside dining area and had to endure the warm gale force winds while kids ran in and out along with the wait staff and diners. Thankfully, we were seated over an A/C vent. Apparently there was a run on the bread, so we didn't receive any until we were almost finished with our salads. Water refills had to be asked for, and I never noticed anyone from the wait staff going around filling glasses...though did notice plenty of busboys standing around. Our main dishes were served to another table, taken back into the kitchen when the diners said they hadn't ordered it, and then brought back out to us. On a positive note, the she crab soup with sherry was exceptional and the house salad was good. The crab cakes were decent, the mashed taters tasty, but the green beans were overly greasy--why would a restaurant douse their beans with tons of oil?!?! Not sure we'll be back--as the table of locals next to us told the manager, "We'll be back in the Fall when all the tourists leave." I think the food is normally wonderful and a decent deal for the price, so we were really disappointed tonight.

3 stars.

Great views, but that's where it ends. Mediocre service. Had to hunt down our own refills. Food was not consistent. One persons green beans were cooked perfect, mine raw. For the price, would expect more.

Dreadful! !

Mac

High quality food and the best views anywhere on the Grand Strand. Not a T shirt and jeans place but for the quality of the food, price is commiserate. We have never visited GCB and NOT eaten here, it is a must stop on every trip.

Great if you like fried seafood. The hushpuppies were on the sweet side which I enjoyed but my companions did not. Good for kids, portions are big enough to split between two small children.
